Camp Jackson Tour Part 5: The Lake

A walk down from the pavilion and cabins brings you to the lake. The lake should be a fun place for splashing in the water, paddling around, and fishing (catch and release with non-barbed hooks only, but the fish appear to be plentiful).

You can see the Lake House in the distance:

There are couple of paddle boats. It would be fun if we could also bring a canoe (or two), or any other fun water toys we can manage.

We went out on the paddle boat and fed the fish. It was kind of crazy to see the fish jumping to the surface for the fish food:

There is a fenced off shallow play area in the water for kids:

Also near the lake is a horseshoe pit. I'm thinking a horseshoes tournament might be in order...

Camp Jackson Part 4: The Lake House

Down by the lake is the Lake House:

The view from the porch:

The kitchen:

The living room/bedroom. There are two futons that fold down into double beds, as well as a couch:

The bathroom has a sink, toilet, and shower:

Above the kitchen is a small loft area with foam pads that would work as a sleeping area for kids:

Camp Jackon Tour Part 3: The Cabins

To the left of the pavilion is an open meadow area, with a road that goes down toward the lake:

This is also where the two small cabins are, as well as RV spots:

The cabins aren't fancy, but they'll work for sleeping. Both cabins have a double bed...

...as well as two bunks. These bunks can sleep four children with pads and sleeping bags:

Here's the second cabin:

Camp Jackson Tour Part 2: The Main Lodge

Just up from the pavilion is the main lodge:

The front door opens into a living room/kitchen area:

The first floor has two private bedrooms, each with a queen or double sized bed:

There is also a bathroom on the first floor, with a nice shower and double sinks (not pictured):

The second floor is more open. There are three bedroom areas, each separate from the other, but there are no doors. One bedroom has two double beds, one has a bed and a small couch, and the third just has a bed:

There is a bathroom upstairs with a toilet and sink, but no shower:
There are two nice decks outside, with beautiful mountain views. Both have direct entry into the house. This is the lower level deck:
And the upper level deck. I'm envisioning the bigger boys throwing sleeping bags down and sleeping out here:

Outside of the main lodge, just next to the decks, is a play area that should be fun for the kids. Be aware that there is a small stream near here, so adult supervision will be a good idea:

Camp Jackson Tour Part 1: The Pavilion

Welcome to your virtual tour of Camp Jackson, the site of the Sivert Family Reunion, July 2-5, 2011. As you enter Camp Jackson, you pass through the main gates:

On the right is the pavilion. I anticipate that this will be a central gathering place for the reunion:

There are 8 tables under the pavilion, each seats 8-10 people:

Inside the pavilion is a kitchen area, with a drinking fountain, cupboards, a double sink, and an oven/stove with six burners and a large griddle section:

There is also a large propane BBQ for grilling:

I originally thought the large silver thing pictured below was a fridge, but it's actually just a place to keep food and supplies safe from the wildlife. We'll have to use the fridges in the houses, and maybe have some ice and coolers handy.

Next to the pavilion is a swingset and sandbox. Nothing fancy, but it will keep some of the little kids happy for a while:
Also near the pavilion are seven tent sites, as pictured here:
There is also a firepit with seating around it. Smores, anyone?

The pavilion has a bathroom. There are two sinks, two private toilets, and a private shower:
